Short n’ Sweet: Sabrina Carpenter’s New Album and Ascent to Pop Stardom

If anybody’s having a standout year in 2024, it’s Sabrina Carpenter. With solidified chart topping global hits like “Espresso” and “Please Please Please,” and a brand new album on the way set to drop August 23, 2024, Carpenter is making her mark as another one of today’s quintessential pop superstars. But this is not her first rodeo.

She got her start by first being a Disney Channel star on the popular series Girl Meets World which ran from 2014-2017, and prior to that was signed to Hollywood Records in 2013 and released her debut single “Can’t Blame A Girl for Trying.”

More recently, Carpenter’s last album, “Emails I Can’t Send” not only gave her instant classics such as “Nonsense” and “Feather,” but this was her first album that without a doubt felt like Sabrina Carpenter and thrusted her into the mainstream limelight. In this album, she discusses a variety of things in her life: how her father’s infidelity has potentially messed up how she views her partners/relationships, dating in the public eye, heartbreak, falling in love and so much more.

It also has a culmination of different tonalities that range from poppy hits with hints of R&B influences to slow melancholy ballads to songs that have a bit of a country influence. With her sixth studio album “Short n’ Sweet” gracing us so soon it’s hard to deny the anticipation. According to Variety, the album is made up of 12 songs including “Please Please Please” and “Espresso.”
