G-Dragon is back with new music after seven years!
Speculation started on October 20 and 21, 2024, when G-Dragon posted photos of black boxes on his personal Instagram page and the @fanplusonedotcom Instagram page—a new account that he made on his birthday this year to communicate with fans. The caption on the fanplusonedotcom post says, “Beyond-black” and features the hashtag “GDRAGON2024.”
He then continued to post teasers throughout the rest of the week up until the release of the song and official music video. On October 24, 2024 both pages featured a photo saying “Error,” with the caption on the fanplusonedotcom post stating, “Loading… please hold on.” Then, on October 28, the captions for the Instagram posts simply read, “Charging Up.”
Short previews of the “Power” music video arrived on October 30, 2024, and the song and music video finally arrived on October 31, 2024.
The music video takes fans through G-Dragon’s career, from his past with Big Bang to his solo work. The song features a unique hip-hop beat that is so catchy, but it is also pretty short at only two minutes and twenty-three seconds. If you look closely at the two minutes and eight seconds mark, you can see what looks to be an album tracklist on the metro map sign.
An official performance video came out on November 3, 2024. The performance begins in a bathroom stall with walls decorated by words and drawings including “power,” “world,” and “tour.” They were very quick to presume that this means G-Dragon will be touring in 2025.
G-Dragon is set to perform at this year’s MAMA awards ceremony in Japan on November 23, 2024, which will mark his first professional performance since 2017.
We can’t wait to see what else G-Dragon has in store for the rest of this year and in 2025!
