This week was full of collaborations—some were expected and others had us scratching our heads in confusion. But what would pop culture and entertainment be if it didn’t keep us on our toes?
Kendrick Lamar & SZA
It has been announced that SZA will be a guest performer at Kendrick Lamar’s upcoming Superbowl LIX Halftime Show performance. In the ad posted by Apple Music, SZA is seen sneaking behind Kendrick on a football field right before pouring a bucket of Gatorade on his head. Will there be more guests revealed? Possibly. But in the meantime, we can rest assured that Kendrick won’t be lighting up the stage alone on February 9.
Bruno Mars & Sexxy Red
This unlikely collaboration likely had all of us confused. Earlier in the week, Bruno Mars took to Instagram to publicly search for Sexxy Red. He stated that he needed to get in touch with her because he was on his way to the studio “to make a strip club anthem.” Eventually, she responded with, “Heyyyyyy Bruno.” Less than 72 hours later “Fat Juicy & Wet” was released. They even dropped a music video that included cameo appearances from Rosé and Lady Gaga. Stream the song fans are calling an instant hit on all music streaming platforms.
Reese Witherspoon & Will Ferrell
Reese Witherspoon (Legally Blonde) and Will Ferrell (Step Brothers) will bring their new comedy to Prime Video. The daughter of Will Ferrell’s character is getting married—but so is the sister of Reese Witherspoon’s. Find out what happens when the venue accidentally double-books the weddings. It looks like a hilarious and chaotic wedding weekend ensues. You’re Cordially Invited will be available to stream on January 30.
Rosé & Skims
It wouldn’t be February if there weren’t at least one Valentine’s Day-themed clothing campaign. And leave it to Skims to stay on top of the latest trends and hottest artists. Former Blackpink member and current solo artist, Rosé, is the face of this year’s V-Day drop. The announcement was accompanied by a super cute and somewhat vintage Carin Backoff video where Rosé donned some of the pieces available in the upcoming release. The Skims Valentine’s shop is available now for a limited time!
Lisa, Doja Cat, & Raye
Lisa, a former Blackpink member, just confirmed that her upcoming album Alter Ego will include a Doja Cat and Raye collab! What can listeners expect? Well, as usual, Doja Cat will probably have a few catchy and clever lyrics while, Raye will likely belt out some quality vocals, as always. Although the album is scheduled to be released on February 28, you can listen to their new song, “Born Again,” on February 6.
Popeyes & Don Julio
This had us lost for words. What do Popeyes and Don Julio have in common? If they were people, we would probably question how they met. This makes it that much funnier and, honestly, even more intriguing. They took to Instagram to announce, “The kitchen is heating up for the big game.” If you’re just as curious as many of us, you’ll tune in on January 31 when the duo is expected to announce what they have been cooking up.
