T-E-A-M  U-S-A  AH!

If you’re like me, you woke up this weekend to a Beyonce visual. I’m not referring to “the visuals” the Beyhive has been impatiently waiting for since the Renaissance album era. What we woke up to was her Paris 2024 Summer Olympic Games commercial! But the purpose of the commercial didn’t stop the proud Texan from showing up in a red, white, and blue jeweled pair of cowboy boots and a matching jeweled American flag cowboy hat. And although not the Cowboy Carter visuals we anticipated, we’ll take what we can get!

In true Beyonce fashion she popped up with no warning in all her amazing-ness. She was wearing a bodysuit that perfectly hugged her curves with “USA” and the American flag printed on the front, reminding us to support the talented Team USA. If you’re familiar with Cowboy Carter, Beyonce’s latest country themed album, you recognized “YA YA” right away. And she would not be Beyonce if she did not rewrite the lyrics to perfectly fit this glorious occasion that only occurs every 4 years. “YA YA” which samples Nancy Sinatra’s 1965 “These Boots are Made for Walkin’” was reworked by switching out the fan favorite intro where Beyonce originally spells out B-E-Y-I-N-C-E for T-E-A-M U-S-A. She even makes sure to acknowledge Paris, this year’s Olympics host, asking, “Everybody enjoying the show? “Oui Oui, Paris.”

You’ll recognize a few faces in the commercial, especially if you’ve been following the Olympics. In the commercial she went on to praise specific Olympians including Sha’Carri Richardson and Noah Lyles referring to them as “the fastest man and woman in the world.” She features, “proud papa” and gold medalist swimmer Caeleb Dressel and the most decorated female swimmer in Olympic history, Katie Ledecky. Finally, we have Simone Biles, the most decorated U.S. Olympic gymnast in history. Biles received a special shout out from Queen Bey herself with, “And I know you know my girl, Simone.” What a dream.

Fans were ecstatic to see this commercial hilariously tweeting statements such as, “Beyonce for President,” “Red, White, & Beyonce,” and “Not Beyonce making me patriotic!” I must admit that it was refreshing seeing these hard-working laser-focused Olympians let loose and dance in what was ultimately a Beyonce music video… right? But in all honesty, it was a fun way to acknowledge the hard work and dedication of this very special group of young Americans. And in the meantime, Beyonce has given the Beyhive something to occupy themselves…for now. Go Team USA!
