Sofia Carson and Diane Warren will perform Best Song nominee ‘Applause’ at the 95th annual Academy Awards next month. Warren earned her 14th Oscar nomination since 1988 with this song from Tell It Like a Woman.
‘Applause’ is the second nominated song announced to perform at the ceremony, after Rihanna was confirmed this Thursday to sing ‘Lift Me Up’ from Black Panther: Wakanda Forever at the event. More talent joining the show will be announced in the coming weeks.
The song will be competing for the award of Best Song against ‘Hold My Hand’ from Top Gun: Maverick (Lady Gaga and Bloodpop), ‘Lift Me Up’ from Black Panther: Wakanda Forever (Rihanna), ‘Naatu Naatu’ from RRR (Kala Bhairava, M. M. Keeravani, Rahul Sipligunj) and ‘This Is a Life’ from Everything Everywhere All at Once (David Byrne, Ryan Lott and Mitski).
The 95th annual Oscars will be held on Sunday, March 12, at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, and will be hosted by Jimmy Kimmel.
