The VMA’s went off without a hitch on September 11th! The stars filed in 1-by-1 wearing everything from dresses to pantsuits and more. The award show has always been known to produce the most interesting and memorable outfits. Of course, this year was no exception. But let’s focus on 1 specific person’s fashion in this case. As previously reported Megan Thee Stallion served as this year’s host, and she definitely understood the assignment. So in no particular order, let’s delve into these equally memorable looks!
Megan wore a total of 7 outfits to host the award show. A couple of them may even look familiar to you. Her first look was her red-carpet ensemble. Her black Nicole + Felicia mermaid gown made her appear to be gift wrapped which was right sion the money considering her wardrobe was the gift that kept on giving throughout the night. Paired with a jet-black a-line bob that perfectly framed her face, she started off with a bang.
Later on showed a little bit more in a team USA themed bodysuit that was very similar to the one Beyoncé wore in her 2024 Paris Olympics commercial. Although Megan’s had the letters “VMA” across the front instead of “USA,” she was very clear on the inspiration behind the costume joking that Simone Biles let her borrow it.
Next, we have what was arguably her most interesting outfit. But she delivered in a way that only she could. This rich red dress resembled both a trench coat and a corset mixed with a little bit of tuxedo. This dress was the perfect reminder that fashion is art, and this was a masterpiece.
Now this next outfit will look familiar to every millennial and if it doesn’t, shame on you. Do you remember what Britney Spears wore for her 2001 VMA performance of “Slave 4 U?” Well we got a repeat of that this year through Megan. She had every single detail down including the albino Burmese Python! The snake only made a brief appearance though as Megan was obviously uncomfortable, yelling “Stop the music!” “I’m just playing! Come get this snake!” You still get an A for effort, Megan!
Wondering what she wore for her actual performance? During her Japanese themed performance, where she brought out Japanese rapper Yuki Chiba, she wore a yellow 2-piece bra set with matching boots. The piece incorporated a little extra flavor with some of the fabric wrapping around her body almost mimicking mummy wrap. It allowed her to stand out perfectly alongside her backup dancers’ red costumes.
Remember Megan’s recent Pepsi commercial? Well she channeled her inner Pepsi gladiator with this next outfit. With big and curly hair, the host walked onto stage with her full gold and sapphire blue gladiator outfit. She even had a matching gold staff with a huge sapphire stone at the top. We see what you did there!
For her final hair and wardrobe change, she walked out with long black wavy hair and a sheer studded black floor-length dress. With a combination of signature and nostalgic looks Megan kept us guessing with each and every outfit change. Every detail including her hair seemed well thought out and intentional. Now that’s how you host a show!
