Aang’s journey isn’t over yet and Netflix is gifting us two more seasons of Avatar: The Last Airbender!
Based on the insanely popular Nickelodeon animated series of the same name, Netflix’s 8 episodes live-action follows “Aang, the young Avatar, as he learns to master the four elements (Water, Earth, Fire, Air) to restore balance to a world threatened by the terrifying Fire Nation”. Fans seem to have “embraced Avatar: The Last Airbender, leading to a two-season renewal”, after the show scored 41.1M views in just the first 11 days and reigned as the top English TV show.
“In Season 1, Aang (Gordon Cormier) wakes up after a 100-year slumber to discover he’s the only surviving Airbender. The world is being threatened by the imperialistic Fire Nation, which wiped out every other airbender and is working to subjugate the Earth and Water Nations. With the help of his newfound friends Katara (Kiawentiio), a waterbender, and her brother Sokka (Ian Ousley), Aang sets off on a journey to restore balance to this fractured world. “
The streamer accompanied the announcement with a poster (see below) with Aang’s iconic arrow pointing down to the numbers 2 and 3, whose designs refer to the Earth and Fire Nations respectively, possibly indicating the focus for each upcoming season.
Netflix also unveiled a video of the cast reacting to the series renewal news, after getting pranked by Daniel Dad Kim who made them think that the show wasn’t renewed for a second season.
The series also stars Dallas Liu as Prince Zuko, Elizabeth Yu as Princess Azula, Paul Sun-Hyung Lee as Iroh, Ken Leung as Commander Zhao, and Daniel Dae Kim as Fire Lord Ozai.
