The 112-minute-long documentary starts out with her stating that she thinks, Megan Thee Stallion is trying to protect Megan Pete.” Her vulnerability shines through in a powerful way as she takes control of her story and her image for the first time. She goes in-depth about her feelings toward her highest highs including her college graduation and topping the music charts in 2020. And she fights through sadness while discussing her lowest lows including the loss of her mother and the media’s coverage of her trial as a witness to her own assault.
The project uses a combination of her personal vlog footage, professional recordings, and animation to tell the story of her rise to fame and the trials and tribulations along the way. The strong themes throughout include prioritizing mental health, being able to determine who your true friends are, and female confidence and empowerment.
