Rihanna has officially replaced Charlize Theron as the face of Christian Dior’s famous perfume, J’Adore. After 20 years the actress has taken a new role at Dior and is no longer the face of the famous women’s perfume. In May she stated, “It’s exciting to start this chapter in a longstanding partnership with Dior. Over the past 20 years, it’s been an honor to collaborate creatively with the house as the face of J’Adore.”
On June 18th Rihanna was announced as the new face of the perfume, replacing Theron, and ushering in a new era of the brand and perfume that we all know and love. The artist stated, “I am especially looking forward to joining this adventure and contributing to it through my world, my story, my roots, as well as my creativity and my own femininity.” Nothing much was said from that point until a few days ago.
On August 29th, 80 hours before the official commercial film’s release, Rihanna posted a sneak peek of her Dior debut. The commercial clip showed her from behind as she walked through golden gates wearing a black ensemble styled by Italian fashion designer and Dior’s creative director, Maria Grazia Chiuri. The end of the clip started the 80-hour countdown to the official commercial’s release on September 1st and the words, “Your Dreams Make Them Real” flashed across the screen.
On August 30th, exactly 30 hours later we were gifted a 2-second glimpse of her from behind tightening her corset. The words, “Your Dreams Make Them Real” appeared once again followed by the updated countdown showing 50 hours left until the premiere.
On August 31st we got our final sneak peek. At this point we still haven’t seen her face as we only get a view of her from behind yet again. This time we see the bottom half of her body as she walks onto a balcony, golden light shining upon her.
Finally on September 1st we were rewarded with the full commercial. With her ANTI album hit song, “Love on the Brain” playing, we see her in what we can only assume is her Dior kingdom. The blonde bombshell walks up the stairs to her palace in the same black ensemble from the first clip. She grabs her J’Adore bottle and changes into a glamorous gold jeweled dress, sparkling jewels, and layered gold pearl necklace. Finally, dressed like royalty, she walks through her beautiful, gilded palace. After looking over the balcony at her kingdom she majestically walks through water looking celestial. What a perfect way to start off this partnership.
