At this point we have all swiped through Instagram or TikTok this summer and heard, “Is somebody gonna match my freak” or “I’ve been a nasty girl.” If you’re like me, you saw these videos and assumed it was simply another viral sensation created by a random soundbite and added to music. But others knew it was a full song by singer and entertainer, Tinashe, called “Nasty.” You learn something new every day, right? Well now that I’m up to speed I feel like it’s only right that we delve into her new album, Quantum Baby which was released on Friday, August 16th and features the fan and Instagram favorite song “Nasty.”
As I just mentioned, the album was just released so you’re not too late if you’d like to have a listen. But before you do, here’s some facts you may want to know. Tinashe recently sat down with Billboard and provided 5 facts about her latest project that even her biggest fans may not have known. So here they are, in no particular order:
There are no features on the entire album. Some of Tinashe’s biggest hits have featured other artists including but not limited to Chris Brown, SchoolBoy Q, and Offset. This time she is the only attraction and I love that for her!
Additionally, she worked with multiple producers that she’s worked with in the past including Troy who produced “I Can See the Future” on 333 (2021) and Nosaj Thing who produced “Talk to Me Nice” on BB/Ang3l (2023). So, you can expect even more hits to come from this album.
Another fun fact is that she recorded every single track for the album in her home studio explaining it’s where she feels most comfortable and, “the most at home.” Who can blame her?
For those of you who are familiar with her last album, BB/Ang3l, you may catch on to the fact Quantum Baby is a continuation/ extension of that project. She stated, “It continues the story and digs a little bit deeper.” And speaking of digging deeper, the title Quantum Baby references getting to know her on a deeper level and understanding her beneath the surface.
So, there you have it! Tinashe’s new project, Quantum Baby is out, and you have the opportunity to get to know her a little bit more. Enjoy!
