After eight years, G-Dragon is finally back with a new album—Übermensch. He has been on a roll recently with “Power” and “Home Sweet Home” (feat. Taeyang and Daesung), which served as pre-release singles for the album.
G-Dragon announced the album with a teaser video on February 3, 2025. The video shows two figures walking towards each other, then flashes to show the album title, Übermensch, and release date—February 25, 2025.
What exactly does Übermensch mean? Well, it is a concept created by the philosopher Friedrich Nietzsche and describes someone who has fulfilled their ultimate potential. In other words, this type of person is described as a “Superman”. Based on the songs we’ve heard so far, “Power” seems to embody this concept the most.
The album tracklist was unveiled on February 7, 2025. Übermensch contains 8 songs, including the two singles that have already come out. While none of the new song titles have clear ties to the definition of Übermensch, G-Dragon is known to have multiple meanings within his lyrics, so that’s where we will most likely see the connection.
The album will have 3 different versions and 13 variations: there’s a jewel case version, a mini jewel case version, and a photocard album version. The jewel case version comes in eight colors, while the mini jewel case version comes in four colors, and the photo card version comes in one color.
G-Dragon has recently performed at a few award shows, and he’s just getting started. Fans worldwide will finally be able to see him live with the announcement of G-Dragon’s 2025 World Tour [Übermensch]. The tour is set to kick off with a two-night concert at the Goyang Stadium, in South Korea, on March 29 and 30. A fan club pre-sale is scheduled for 8pm KST on February 26, and general tickets go on sale at 8pm on February 27 via Coupang Play’s mobile app. More dates are yet to be announced, but stay tuned to Fork!
