Hello, you. Netflix has officially announced the release date for the final season of You, and luckily, we don’t have to wait too long. On January 16, the streaming platform confirmed that the final chapter of You will premiere on April 24th, 2025 with 10 episodes.
Just shy of a month ago, Netflix confirmed that the 5th and final season would premiere in 2025, however, that was all the information they were willing to share. This time, the official date announcement was also accompanied by an official trailer. What is going on this season? Well, honestly your guess is as good as ours. Based on the minute-long trailer everything comes full circle. How? We’re not entirely sure, but Joe’s voiceover certainly seems to indicate as much.
“Here we are together again, back to where it began. A lot has happened these many years together, identities, cities, loves, complications. But all that led me here, to now, to where I was always meant to be. And the one constant, the one thing that has always been there for me is you. You who have been there the whole time and will be there with me to the end. Goodbye you.” This monologue played while showing scenes from previous seasons including sweet Guinevere Beck (Elizabeth Lail), emotionally unstable Love Quinn (Victoria Pedretti), naïve Marienne (Tati Gabrielle), co-conspiring Kate Galvin (Charlotte Ritchie), and perhaps his most prized and useful possession, that giant clear box prison in the basement of his beloved Upper East Side Manhattan bookstore.
A lot has happened over the last four seasons and seven years, so we’re all understandably a combination of excited, anxious, and, honestly, a bit sad. We’ve watched Joe evolve in very questionable ways, causing us to both appreciate and hate him. We’ve seen interesting, terrible, and wonderful people enter his life—some of whom deserved Joe’s wrath and many of whom didn’t. But we’ve grown to love the clever sociopath that Joe Goldberg is. Make sure you don’t miss the final season. Hopefully it’s the “killer goodbye” that we all deserve.
