This past Tuesday on August 27, 2024, Monét delighted fans with the drop of “SOS (Sex on Sight)” with her fans already buzzing before it was even released due to small teasers being released by the artists themselves through TikTok and Instagram.
The single begins with a string of angelic vocals accompanied by a few piano notes and percussion elements that feel nostalgic but as soon as Monét slides into the first verse, her smooth vocals makes it completely fresh. The small breakdown into the post-chorus with the brass instrument(s) in the background is heavenly and you can’t help but move to the music.
And we can’t forget about Usher.
His almost rap speaking style perfectly synced to the beat to kick off the second verse before beginning to sing shows not only his very well-known musicality but how perfect of a feature choice he truly was to have on this song. Monét and Usher both complement and bounce off one other incredibly well here to create a pretty much picture perfect collaboration.
The lyrics are a model companion to supplement the sexiness of the instrumental but they are also more risque as listeners have dubbed it as true “baby making music.”
