Camila Mendes has some unfortunate news for those of us waiting for the I Know What You Did Last Summer reboot. It has been confirmed that she will no longer be starring in the project. This is unexpected news for fans of both the actress and the film franchise. Needless to say, we definitely have some questions.
Here’s some background. In early May, Sony announced that they would be creating a reboot of the 1997 slasher film I Know What You Did Last Summer. But instead of starring Jennifer Love Hewitt (who was still set to appear in the film) it would be starring Riverdale’s and Do Revenge’s Camila Mendes. It was also expected to be released in July of 2025.
Well, that’s no longer the case considering Camila has dropped out of the film due to scheduling conflicts. Apparently, she could not make filming dates work because she is currently filming for her role of Teela in the upcoming Amazon MGM & Mattel movie, Masters of the Universe. Of course, this is totally understandable as she can’t be in 2 places at once. But it’s disappointing, nonetheless.
So, what now? Well since this news has just been released there is no word on who will be replacing Camila as the star of the classic movie’s reboot. We’ll be keeping our eyes and ears open for any additional details and updates. Hopefully this does not hold up production and we can still expect the film to be released in July of next year.
