Another ‘Beef’ Coming Soon?

Beef, originally a limited Netflix series may be set to return for a 2nd season. If you’re unfamiliar with Beef, don’t worry – here’s a quick synopsis:

It revolves around the chaos initiated by a road rage incident between strangers Amy (Ali Wong) and Danny (Steven Yeung). From the first episode you watch each of their lives unravel as their ruthless determination to exact revenge on one another spirals into something that they can’t come back from. It’s a roller coaster of a show.

So why is another season of a show that was only intended to have 1 season being discussed? In June 2024 the showrunner and creator of the limited series, Lee Sung Jin, sat down with Elle.com and explained that the show was originally pitched as a limited anthology. Not to mention the show did receive rave reviews from viewers and critics alike. Tweets like, “no but #BEEFNetflix is such a brilliant yet gut-wrenching series” and “the way things on #BEEFNetflix just kept escalating?? My nerves were wracked,” started to flood social media. So, a 2nd season will more than likely we well received by fans.

This is what we know so far. Despite not officially being renewed, actor Charles Melton (who you may know from Riverdale, The Sun is Also a Star, and May December) has confirmed that he has been casted in the next season. This season will likely involve completely different characters with a different plot. It’s also been mentioned that this possible season will revolve around 2 couples feuding as opposed to season one’s feud between 2 individual strangers.

Either way our fingers are crossed in the hopes that an official second season will be confirmed and announced soon. And in the meantime, we’ll continue to avoid getting into beefs of our own. You may know from the show, they tend not to end well.
